Fripp Island is a barrier island located along the Atlantic coast of South Carolina’s lowcountry.  Located only 21 miles from Beaufort, Fripp is also an easy drive from Savannah, GA (65 miles) and a short trip from Charleston, SC (96 miles).

Our family has been vacationing at Fripp Island for the past 40 years and have loved every minute. There is so much that this island offers and we take advantage of it all. When our children were young, we played on the beach, visited the Cabana Club pools, frequented the playgrounds, fished, crabbed and had wonderful family times together. Now that they are older, we still have fun with games on the beach, but we also go deep sea fishing, play trivia with others at the Beach Club, play tennis and golf, crab and shrimp on the back rivers, and just enjoy all that life at Fripp has to offer. We hope you have the chance to take advantage of all that we do during your stay!

Below are a few of our favorite things:

Beach Outings – Crab’s Shack is directly across the street from one of Fripp Island’s beach access ramps (no dunes and no more than 150 steps!).

A slip at the Fripp Marina

Boating – Bring your boat with you to Fripp and dock it behind the house or rent a slot at the marina. If you leave your boat at home, Fripp Island does offer fishing charters, rentals and gear. If you choose to dock your boat at our dock, please be aware that boats over 14 ft will be too large to navigate the creek, especially at low tide.

Swimming – Fripp Resort offers the Cabana Club (three pools, including a shallow pool for toddlers), a pool at the Marina, the Ocean Point Pool and the Beach Club Pool. With Amenity Cards, you will have access to fun times at all pools.  And, don’t forget the 3.5 mile stretch of ocean waters!

Fishing – Rent a charter boat for deep sea and/or back river fishing or simply cast a line off the dock in the backyard. Here’s a tip – you’re more likely to catch a fish when the tide is going out.

Cocktail Hour – Enjoy a nice frozen peach daiquiri on the front porch, back porch, the beach or on the dock of the Crab’s Shack. We provide the blender!

Explore The Island – Rental bikes and golf carts are the locals’ choice of transportation. You may even spot an alligator or two in one of the ponds or find friendly deer grazing in the woods.  But, please don’t feed the wildlife!

Lowcountry Boil – stop by Gay Fish Co. Inc. on your drive to Fripp and grab some local seafood.

Fripp Island, Marina

Bonito Boathouse – Make your way to the Marina to see the fishermen’s catch-of-the-day and afterwards, enjoy dinner at one of Fripp’s staple restaurants overlooking the marsh and the beautiful sunset.

Golf – Decide between Fripps seaside course, Ocean Pointe, or Ocean Creek, designed by world-renowned golfer Davis Love III.

Tennis – Hit the courts like a pro (or with a pro). The Racquet Club offers eight Fast-Dry clay courts plus two hard courts.  Pickle Ball anyone?

Kayaks and Canoes – Looking to explore the island from a distance? Or maybe do sunrise yoga on a paddleboard? Or maybe you want to be close to the dolphins. You can do all this! Rent kayaks, canoes and paddleboards from Fripp’s Island Excursions, located next to the Marina.
